Doroobi (دروبي) is a navigation app made by ITD Innovation Information Technology L.L.C in the United Arab Emirates ("we"). Doroobi works without an account: we never ask for your name, phone number, email or contacts. This page explains what the app and doroobi.com use, why, and for how long.

What the app sends, and why

WhatWhyHow long we keep it
An anonymous device code, made at random by our server the first time you open the appTo stop one phone voting many times or flooding the map with reportsStored on your phone until you delete the app; our server does not keep a list of them
Your position, speed and direction while the app is open and you are moving (every 10 seconds)To work out live traffic for everyoneKept with the device code for at most 5 minutes, then only an average speed per road per time of day, which is not linked to anyone
Where you start and where you want to goTo plan your routesNot saved. Kept briefly in memory so that the same request a moment later is answered quickly.
Reports you make (type, place, time) and your "still there" or "not there" votesTo warn other drivers and to judge which reports to trustUntil the report expires, usually 15 to 60 minutes. We keep the device code and a short scrambled code of your network with it, only to limit repeat votes.
What you type in searchTo find places and addressesNot stored by us. Searches of 3 letters or more are sent on, without your address or device code, to the Photon address search service run by komoot (Germany).

We do not show any road on the public map unless at least three different phones drove it in the last five minutes, and we hide small "drivers now" numbers, so that no one can follow a single car.

What stays on your phone

Your Home and Work addresses, saved and recent places, points, settings and the device code are saved only on your phone. When trip suggestions are on, the app asks our server for a route to Home or Work, like any other route request; the server does not know which place is your home. Settings › Privacy lets you remove recent places one by one, or delete everything Doroobi keeps on the phone. Deleting the app deletes it too.

You can stop sharing your speed at any time in Settings › Privacy › Share my speed. Doroobi still guides you; you just no longer add to live traffic.

Location permission

Doroobi asks for location "while using the app" only. It does not use your location in the background. Without location you can still look at the map, live traffic and reports.

Other services the app uses

The app has no advertising and no analytics or tracking tools, and we do not sell or share data with advertisers.

Server records

Our server keeps a technical log of errors and of failed sign-ins to the operators' dashboard, which can include the internet address involved. These logs are deleted after 14 days. Saved reports and road speeds are backed up daily; backups are kept for 14 days.

This website

doroobi.com uses no cookies, no analytics and no outside scripts.

Your rights

Under the UAE Personal Data Protection Law you can ask what data we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. Because Doroobi does not know who you are, we usually cannot link server data to you; it is anonymous and deleted quickly. Deleting the app removes everything on your phone. Write to us with any question or request.
